Just put my money where my mouth is
and bought a 360. It's got to go away tonight for xmas but....
WOW. What a great machine. I managed to get a 175w Falcon. In anticipation I already had Connect360 setup on my Mac. The music system is awesome - within seconds I had it talking to my Mac and Celldweller blasting out while I was playing Forza 2. Most of my avi's play perfectly which is a total bonus.
The controller is comfy, Live is great and Orange Box looks set to take up lots of my time. I'm confident I made the right decision (vs PS3) and it will really complement my Wii for the total gaming experience.
One happy 360 customer.

Yes, the update for playing AVI's etc has only just come out
I had to try to play a video before the update came through though.
I wish it was quieter when playing dvd games though, my PS3 and Wii are pretty much silent.

Re: Just put my money where my mouth is
May have to send mine back for repair soon. Disc's just randomly stop and my game gets cut out. There's no dirt, no scratches the discs are perfect but then I hear the disc stop spinning and then it "This disc is dirty bla bla bla". Hopefully you dont have any of these problems with the newer console. I hope mine is replaced with a new one dout it though.

Re: Just put my money where my mouth is
The new chipset runs cooler than the original one.
You will know if it is a Falcon because it will say 175w on the box, the old one was 203w The old one couldn't run on 175w.

Re: Just put my money where my mouth is
From what I'd been able to gather, if the system has a 175w power supply, it's a Falcon. This has a 65nm CPU (*not* GPU - this is still 90nm and still the biggest heat contributor) and newer heatsink design. Obviously, it also has HDMI. I had to explain all of this to the manager of GAME when he couldn't understand why I wanted to see the back of the box
I have a HDMI display device and 5.1 amp so I had to take a penknife to the AV out plug's housing to 'make them fit'. Slightly scary with a brand new purchase!
I've got another hour or so with it tonight before I have to pack it up.

Re: Just put my money where my mouth is
I don't actually know. I only had the 360 for a few hours for some 'testing' and I played 3 levels of Portal and some multiplayer. Then my mate brought his HD-DVD drive round and we watched Hot Fuzz Then I packed it away for Christmas
