Help with usb to ethernet change pleaseeee
I have tried to use the ethernet cable instead of the usb cable but it just will not work at all, i have tried it on 2 different pcs and a laptop, ive tried to get wirless with 3 different routers, and ive tried to get xbox live.
Ive tried most things to try and get it to work, even ipconfig/release etc doesn't work.
Im seriously tearing my hair out over this because ive rang up the broadband help so many times and been on for hours and they thought i couldn't switch the modem on or off..im not stupid! lol
So any help would seriously be appricated...my pc works fine and its on xp, so its some problem that i do not understand..
Thanks for any help

Re: Help with usb to ethernet change pleaseeee
You need to power cycle the modem when changing between usb and ethernet. Turn the modem off, disconnect the usb and connect the ethernet, power up the modem, away you go.

Re: Help with usb to ethernet change pleaseeee
The phone tech people said that, but on ours there is none, and i recently found (bout 10 mins ago) and theyve said that they think weve were given a wrong modem ours was a usb modem and their sending us a ethernet modem, so i think this will work! thanks for the help

Re: Help with usb to ethernet change pleaseeee
My router seems to require a specific mac address for me to get on the internet. I have to clone my first computer's mac on my router. Maybe ethernet requires this but USB doesn't, and your xbox hasn't got the right mac the router is looking for. A long shot but there you go :P

Re: Help with usb to ethernet change pleaseeee
But what I mean was that before it wasn't needing a mac since it was via USB, whereas via ethernet it might. Or maybe nothing that I said, as far as I know i'm the only customer on Virgin who has mac address binding, as my IP is static and it only works with the IP of one computer (which is now broken, good thing I have the mac written down xD)
