Unhappy laptop problem!

hi im new here.
i got a problem with my laptop, one day i was using my laptop then the screen light went out! it flickered a few times and hasnt came on since.

ive had it looked at by other people and they think the ribbin needs replaced but when i installed it nothing happened! i can still see that the computer is on as when i tilt it back i notice my folders on the desktop and i notice the background image! if any1 can help me id be greatful! thanks!

The backlighting bulb in LCD screens can fail. They are virtually impossible to replace. If the connecting leads are all present and correct, unfortunately you may be looking at a major repair which if the lappy is of some age might mean replacement is cheaper.

um the laptop is about 2years old now!

i was gona buy a new laptop as i just qualified as a graphics designer and i will need it to us photoshop but is a laptop the best buy for this type of work or would a desktop be more better? plus is there anywhere i can send the laptop to get fixed or looked at properly im from northern ireland btw where is this forum based?

you get more bang for buck with desktops also if your gonna be photo editing and gfx as you said you will need a good big screen so go desktop

as for getting it fixed have a look in micromart magazine iirc there was a couple of firms who did no fix no fee and fixed fix charges

It's worth getting it checked by someone who knows what they're doing - quite often it can actually be the inverter that has failed which is a lot easier to replace.
