My Dad was in tanks, but the Germans capitulated when they heard he was being sent to the Front...

it looks like one I saw when at beulie motor museum in the summer, butthat was an old triumph bonneville or bsa or something like that...

I have just been over on the Photo competition thread and peanutkp's entry has reminded me about this thread from last year. So bump, bump.
Is their anyone who can identify this motorbike for me?
The photo was possibly taken in the 30's the rider being my husband's uncle who raced, with my husband's father for several years in the TT and I know they were riding 'Excelsiors' in the 1930 race.
Any help will be much appreciated.

From the tank & the rear wheel arrangement, looks like a 1920's machine to me Jo.
Will do some digging...
Possibly a Triumph SD 1924ish?

Cheers Cobby. The picture could well have been from the late 20s. Len pictured here, would often play around with his brother Raymond's bikes.
John's father was a sponsored rider with Belle Vue Aces from 1928 into the 40's so it's possible that his love of motorbikes could have meant that the bike Len is sitting on is a hybrid of all the bits and pieces he would have hanging about.

Yes, the headlight & front mudguard aren't quite like the one I linked to.
The Triumph site does say though that the owner claims it's original, but the second owner added the lights in 1946...
