Need Help !

Hey guys,

I know the blue screen of death is pretty common around here, but I couldn't find a specific solution online to the problem Im having.

Basically, the comp randomly crashes into a blue-screen which shows the following :

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shutdown to prevent damage to your computer.

KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical Information:

***STOP: 0x0000007A (0xE1B471F8, 0xC000009A, 0xBF86E113, 0x0CA68860)

*** win32k.sys - Address BF86E113 base at BF800000, DateStamp 45f013f6

Beginning dump of physical memory
Dumping physical memory to disk: 61

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Need Help !

Morning and welcome to CF mathez31

Google is your friend, my friend, first link when googling with KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro....mspx?mfr=true

Seems like a duff drive or memory may be your problem. Along with a possible virus or controller error.

My money would be on the drive. But first run your antivirus\spyware progs just to be clear its not a software fault.
To discount the drive you could move your swapfile to a different drive if it goes then its time to back-up and get a new one.
If its still doing it after moving the swapfile, you could try to borrow some memory from a mate to discount that possibility, and lastly if after the first 3 options have been tried its still happening try moving the IDE cable from primary to secondary and changing your boot options to boot from the C: drive off of the secondary IDE channel.

Damm beaten to the link by eric55, must learn to type quicker

Re: Need Help !

Yeah 7a errors are common with ram faults and bad blocks on your hard disk

Download and burn memtest86 to cd and boot from that allow to test the ram (free test is fine)
Check error reports. Right click my computer manage then event viewer look in system for hard drive errors.
Goto start then run type cmd and hit enter. In the black box type chkdsk c: /r it will say drive is in use check next boot click yes then reboot and go out while it checks
