			got virgin broadband [2 meg] acer travelmate 2420 laptop [100 bucks from neighbour] not up on routers any help would be handy cheers

			The linksys WRT54G is a good router, have had mine for several years now and no problems, even had new firmware released for it a few times. 
It has NAT functionality and a basic firewall built in and Linksys are owned by Cisco so you know the build quality is good.

			Ive got this one from LinkSys http://www.linksys.co.uk/acatalog/WRT54GC.html  the WRT54GC and ive never had problems with it. Its a good router got mine from ebuyer.com paid £24 odd had it delivered within a week

			My Linksys WAG54GS has just gone for repair - I think ParcelFarce have tried to deliver it back - but nobody home so I'll doubt I'll ever see it again...

			Yep, we got a WRT54G, its a very reliable router, never had many problems from it, apart from the dodgy ethernet cable supplied with it.
