Re: scaner

It could be a driver problem, have you been to the scanner website to see if you have the latest Vista drivers.

Re: scaner

To be clear, the test in device manager is working properly, but you can't select it as a source. Which program are you trying to use and do you see the Canon device but it's greyed out. Have you tried using a third party graphics program to see if the Canon device is available there.

Re: scaner

If you can select it from within a photo program then give that a try, all the photo program is doing is giving you access to the twain driver the same as the other program should do.

Re: scaner

You said in #5: "would a photo program count got one but can select the scanner as twain source>". I'm confused, should that have been cannot select it?

What happens if you plug the scanner (or power it up) when the computer is running. Can you see the scanner in the USB device list.

Re: scanner

Try deleting the device from the USB list with USBdeview - http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/usb...usbdeview.html and reinstalling.

We know the scanner is working so it must be a driver issue, is there a forum on Canon's website for this scanner running under Vista. I googled this problem but couldn't see much relevant unfortunately.
