I got a US Robotoics 8004 Broadband router yesterday and the problem i am having is every few minutes the internet just freezes for about 10 seconds then is is fine for a a few minutes then it just freezes again, anyone know what the problem could be, my modem is a NTL 250 and I have a 20 mb connection.
i'd advise firstly if its possible to disconnect the router
that'll let u see which device is causing ur problems
if it still happens with the router disconnected
check to see what the lights do on you're modem when it freezes
if they dont change ur gona have trouble convincing ts that there is any fault
also, , since the probs started have u rebooted all the equip?
and has the prob only occured since u went onto 20mb
i'm not sure on teh ntl config pages(though im sure ul find how to access it sumwhere on here)
but theyre worth having a look at to check power levels/ frequency
both of which can cause prob if out of range or near the edge of the range
when I plug just the modem into my pc the internet is fine, it does not freeze at all, I have had 20 mb broadband for a few months now and it never freezes, when it freezes none of the lights go off on the router and modem both have the lights on for the internet etc
I have also formated my hard drive and re isnstalled windows today and still have the same problem
