Question Is there any way of changing the default email address?

The main email address on our account (the initial one that you cant change) has been hijacked and we are receiving a considerable amount of undeliverable mail returns. 100's per day.
We do have other email accounts that we can use and we are in the process of changing the email addresses for home shopping\ banking etc to another NTL mail address, but as it is the main one with VM that cant be deleted if were were to remove this account from outlook would a full mail box on this account have an affect on the other NTL email accounts or not?
or will VM allow us to nominate another email address as the default one and allow the hijacked address to be deleted?

We have used the online form to ask this question but due to a higher than normal demand we have yet to receive a reply other than the first automated one.

TIA

Re: Is there any way of changing the default email address?

I don't suppose you get your BB bill by e-mail do you? If so you could phone Billings and ask them to record the alternate NTL mail address. This is what I did when my original NTL mail address went weird and I could not, for some reason, get a Virgin BB bill by email.. During that phone call, in Feb this year, i was informed that my original 'set up' address would be marked as closed. I have just checked to-day and the old address comes up as Invalid recipient.

Re: Is there any way of changing the default email address?

What's the betting though that if they want to change their default email address via that page to their new one they're already using (if I've read the first post correctly that's what they want to do), it won't let them coz it already exists.

alferret, I think you're going to have to nominate a completely new username as your default and stick to whatever username(s) you're changing over to.
I'd say it makes no difference in the long run if you're using your default or not. At least if you don't use it, it won't be spammed (as bad!). Just make it something you can remember, as that will be the username for your account/webspace etc.
