Online stock/share trading
Anyone here do this?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm thinking of trying it and was wondering if anyone here has any experience of it online.....

Re: Online stock/share trading
I did back just before NTL dumped all their stock to pay off their debts.
Made a little, but I know people who lost thousands.

On that note: I'm not sure if this is a very good time for dabbling in shares.

I'll tell you how it works. I invested a bit in a world-wide fund towards the end of 2000. Over 6 years, I've had a gain of about 10%. At some point I was down 40%. I'm staying put. It's best to leave this stuff to people who know what they're doing

I use selftrade - fairly cheap - I like doing it online, it's a lot easier to do your research and everything

how much is it if you don't?
it's 12.50 a trade with selftrade.
Thing is, it's very hard to say "I'm going to trade 10 times a quarter" unless you have a lot of money to throw around - since depending on how well spread your portfolio is (or not) , you may not trade at all?

I do remember looking at Barclays... but I think the thing that veered me towards selftrade was that it was all online set up, I went through several pages at barclays, giving them all my details, for it then to say 'well send your pack out in the post, sign it and send it back, and then you can start trading' - which was no use, I needed to start trading within the hour (I had a hot tip, so to speak) - selftrade did that
