Had V+ installed today, I need your help!!
I had a V+ box installed today.......the engineers (if you can call them that), had no idea how to set the box up and said I need to phone CS for an instruction manual or watch 999. Watched 999 for half an hour - pointless.
I have a few questions, and wondered if anyone here could help, before I pick the thing up and bin it (been trying to sort it out since 1pm). There are probably plenty of females on this forum, but this one is not a techie, so please excuse my terminology, but I will try to explain the best I can.
1) Can't rearrange channels. Only via Favorites. Any ideas?
2) DVD recorder/video doesn't receive signal when the V+ is on HD.
3) Agro to switch HD on and off.
4) When I turn on HD, it cuts RF signal from back, so cannot run other telly(s) from RF socket at back. Also kills scart signal.
5) I have only 1 optical link input on my surround system, which I use for my DVD player and the HD will not work through it or vice versa.
6) If I turn the HD off, there is no guide, it gets stuck on one channel, but RF signal still works.
Apart from telling me to bin the thing, if you could help, I would really appreciate it.
Tracy

Sorry, but not an option with UK2 (software V+ uses)
2) DVD recorder/video doesn't receive signal when the V+ is on HD.
VCR scart is only enabled once you start the transfer to DVD function
3) Agro to switch HD on and off.
Needs to be, so non HD users dont accidentally enable HD and lose everything
4) When I turn on HD, it cuts RF signal from back, so cannot run other telly(s) from RF socket at back. Also kills scart signal.
Box only outputs in either HD (HDMI) or SD (scart & RF)
5) I have only 1 optical link input on my surround system, which I use for my DVD player and the HD will not work through it or vice versa.
Try the HDMI audio override option (home - settings - display & audio settings menu)
6) If I turn the HD off, there is no guide, it gets stuck on one channel, but RF signal still works.
The scart is in the wrong socket at the back of the box (opposite way round to standard boxes)
Hope this is of some help

Wow that was helpful l
If you cannot post anything helpful don't. The only thing that post did was add to you post count.

Re: Had V+ installed today, I need your help!!
Thanks for your helpful comments, JontyG. I'm still not sorted though.....
2) DVD recorder/video doesn't receive signal when the V+ is on HD.
VCR scart is only enabled once you start the transfer to DVD function
How can I use my DVD recorder to record a DVD fro say my Nan, I can't tune it in to the signal.
5) I have only 1 optical link input on my surround system, which I use for my DVD player and the HD will not work through it or vice versa.
Try the HDMI audio override option (home - settings - display & audio settings menu)
How can I have 2 optical links plugged into my surround system, when there is only 1 input on it.No point using the audio over ride, when I can't plug it in. The PACE box I had (until 1pm today) was plugged through the DVD player, optical link to DVD player. Don't want to use RCA leads.
Any further help will be appreciated.

Use the record to dvd option in the V+ menu, you can do this while watching normal TV and recording stuff.

If you are wanting to do an instant recording of the viewed channel, it isnt possible if the V+ box is in HD (as the VCR scart is disabled)
The only way around this is to record the program to the hard drive and then use the copy to VCR/DVD function (in V+ extras menu)
As you have probably discovered, connecting the DVDr to the V+ box and selecting the appropriate input on the DVD results in a blank screen (you may or may not get audio only - mine does at this point)
It is only when you have selected the recording to be copied and pressed the yellow "copy now" button that the V+ box actually outputs anything through its VCR scart
Archiving has always been a bit of an **** on for me . TV, V+ and DVDr remotes at the ready!!!
