quite right nothing unfair with the conditions there

however their use of the word "significant"

Main Entry: sig·nif·iÃƒÆ ’‚·cant

Re: I hate Virgin Media, how do I quit?

I was under the impression that Sky withdrew the channels because Virgin refused to pay over the odds for mainly one channel, (Sky One), this seems the one most gripes are about, can this possibly be construed as breach of contract?

I think this has answered the original question. Can we please get back on topic?

Re: I hate Virgin Media, how do I quit?

I have been on NTL for over 2 years. I signed a contract with NTL not Virgin. do I have any legal footing to fight Virgin as I did not have a contract to sign. they took over my Broadband and telephone. my broadband has suffered and now is often unaccesible. Why are Virgin able to take over my contract without my agreement. I do not like Virgin I have never wanted Virgin yet I seem to be stuck with them. Anyone please let me know of any other cable company I can sign with that does not require a BT line.

Even on the forums in the have your say area I posted 11 complaints I never swore yet none of them where posted, 90% are all in favour of Virgin. while the people that are not happy get cut by the censors. Thank you Virgin but no thank you, I would rather do without broadband then have you as my ISP. Worst company I have ever dealt with, one that forces you to switch to them without them offering you a contract, purely criminal. One last thing, Virgin are terrible at dealing with complaints. after Emailing the company a number of times and being kept waiting on the telephone I have pretty much given up all hope in getting a reply to my complaints.

Virgin rebranding NTL:Telewest is not the reason your broadband has suffered they haven't changed anything. Lota of people here who may be able to help with your broadband problems.

If you are not in your first 12 months of your contract just ring them up and give them your 30 days notice.

I don't think you can cancel contracts just because a company has rebranded.
I'm sure there other people can reasons in law why you can't. Not sure I could be wrong

Virgin have not taken over your contract, all that has happened is that NTL have rebranded their company to use the Virgin name (which they bought).
It is still the same company, infrastructure, etc, etc.

Re: I hate Virgin Media, how do I quit?

Over 2 years with NTL no broadband problems what so ever. first week of this so called re-branding broadband is suffering Coincidence? I want to cancel my contract but I need to know if there is another broadband service out there that does not require a BT line. I only needed to call NTL 3 times in my time with them and all my problems where sorted with little effort calling Virgin is a joke, seems they re-branded the staff to. For this Month only you are able to break your Virgin contract no matter how long you have been with them. A good chance to ditch this company with it's megalomaniac leader.

Nobody took over your contract. NTL took over TW and then NTL plc changed their name to VM plc (or whatever) your contract is still with the same entity. In any case there is a contract novation clause that would allow them to move the contract.
You can fight them on the existing contract, it is still valid just because the company name changes does not change anything.

Cable is Cable, there is only one cable company in the UK now, that is Virgin.

Re: I hate Virgin Media, how do I quit?

Oh well looks like ill have to get BT, Virgin or NTL or whoever the company is now puts the price of my broadband up without telling me and its slows down. I hate BT, ripp off prices but I detest Virgin more. as a Sky customer for over 8 years I can get 16 meg Broadband, free wireless router and no charge for set up for £10.00 monthly only fault I need BT. Oh well bye Virgin or NTL or who ever it is.
