Virgin Network Engineers It’s Time to Make a Stand!

Virgin Media/Ntl Network Engineers have been told by management their new terms and conditions will include the following…
Covering hours from 09:00 to 17:00 on a normal working day, 12:00 to 20:00 when on call, working Saturday’s when on call, Implementation of a third shift Patten when on call Winter 10:00 to 18:00 then back to Summer Shift 12:00 to 20:00.
Then to top it all off “as if it’s not enough” We have been asked to help cut down on overtime... We are a 24-7 department 365 days a year called out at any time of the day or night in all weathers so we can give quality service to our customers. None of the so called OT is voluntary “We Have to Do ItӉâ⠚¬Â¦With the New T’s & C’s The Management would force Engineers to take the hours worked i.e. 00:00 04:00 as TOIL (time owed in lieu) with no financial gain for the Engineers inconvenience. As all are only to aware most areas within the old ntl Networks region have over the years been cut to the bone, so not only will the on call Engineers not be compensated for, the guys on a so call normal shift will have to work twice as hard because of the lieu day’s taken off (Total Madness)

We have to make a stand this time. Please log-on to this link http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/n...ignatures.html
And sign the petition
(If you wish to be anonymous tick the appropriate box)
We need make Mr Branson aware of what really go’s on within old ntl and why it got in to the state it did before he bought in to it..

"As all are only to aware most areas within the old ntl Networks region have over the years been cut to the bone"

So THAT's why they don't turn up some of the time..

Hp, my advice is go union on them.

Hi Womble,
The Unions are already involved.. As for the new T’s & C’s you need to have a real good look through again. “Things like Call Out Paid In lieu” this was not the case in the last T’s & C’s in 2006 & 08:00 to 20:00 is to be a normal working day etc etc

Its not in the T&C's I was given, but it was buried in a pdf presentation I recieved a few days ago but only read this morning after I had posted.
After reading the presentation, I have to say some of what was in it is not new (For us ex-ntl boys), the Sat working has always been in our T&C's but was at mangers discretion.
The bit that really concerns me is the split "Summer Time" shifts 12-8pm
I also hear they have shafted the service techs again!!
Same Managment, differant logo!!

Re: Virgin Network Engineers It’s Time to Make a Stand!

Surely if ntl was "crap" in the words of one of their bosses, the managers get binned?

Lightbulb Re: Virgin Network Engineers It’s Time to Make a Stand!

I dont work for NTL.. but for a small company doing support for leisure electronics the working times? when they feel like making you start till when you fall over lol!
you have my sympathy!!
why is it always middle management that get paid tonnes
do nothing but create work for us..
and look busy in their offices while harrassing everyone!
did anyone ever see the hitchikers guide?
they knew what to do with middle management.. estate agents.. retired film producers etc

lets hope upper management gets wind of this..
sacks some of the useless mid management and spends the money on more techs and installers to share the load!
funny really.. I have just been offerd a job with the network side of VM..
you guy's sort of helped me make op my mind lol!
