Set Top Box Dead Help !
WOW what a night it all started at 10 pm when the tv just froze and the internet connections dropped and all we was left with was a ntl home logo ( how ironic ) so i rang virgin to be greeted by a India call centre after giving her my details i was put on hold for 10 minutes as there systems was running slow. Then we went through the usual check plugs ect ect routine thankfully i have been through this procedure before other wise i would have struggled to follow her instructions. She knew what the problem was before i even told her and informed me that a engineer could call Tuesday the 13th feb between 12pm - 6pm but there has to be someone over 18 at the property and then she asks me will ntl/virgin need a parking permit ! ermm no. So i ask her if there is a problem in the area but due to a conflict in languages i just laugh and say thank you. so all i have is the ntl logo on the screen so after watching match of the day i start fiddling with the Samsung smt2100c box and keep random pressing all buttons on the stb and the ld20 display drops to 0 and then hey ho the internet connection comes back which i am on now but no tv what so ever what the hell is going on ? i would love to get the tv back or is the box dead ?

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
Possibly some sort of local area fault. I'd ignore it all and see waht happens in the morning. If need be power off for 5 minutes in the morning, and see if you are lucky when it restarts,
Otherwise wait for that engineer.

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
Assuming you get broadband via STB no if the box is totally fried then no internet or TV. But each do come in on separate signals so you can get one without the other.

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
If I go anywhere near Channel 119 , 100 or other random channels my old PACE box freezes and i have to re-boot. This has only been happening since the Virgin operation started.

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
have u rebooted the stb this morning? and did it go ld14 then ld20-ld30-ld40 then boots to 0? i would suggest a signal issue there, or u could be right and the stb is no longer in the land of the living?

trouble is and i know this may sound stupid but i am scarred to reboot because i may lose the internet again when it was last stuck on ld20 i just kept pressing all the buttons on the front of the stb and it dropped to channel 0. Did i just get lucky or is there a combination for this ?

now getting a NDE01 error when trying to access on demand ?

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
ooer! My stb went funny last night; her ladyship was watching tv and the stb went to try and find/set up e-mail through tv. Operation light was on the remote, so I thought the batteries were dying, changed them and still the same. However, my all in one remote was fine and the stb responded to that with no problem, so Iam assuming that the ntl/virgin remote is having a bad day!

Re: Set Top Box Dead Help !
You'll never know whether a reboot will work unless you are prepared to try it
