Samsung STB replacement

I have various issues with my Samsung STB these range from sound volume increasing / decreasing. Mini guide very slow. Box has now channel list after midnight.

I have a sky pluss box spare which has never had any issues can this be used on NTL ??

Any help would be appreciated

Re: Samsung STB replacement

Simple answer No.

Sky and Cable are two completely different things.

If your cable STB is faulty you need to report that fault to ntl:telewest who would send an engineer to replace it if necessary. That's the advantage of cable where you rent the box, unlike Sky where you own it.

oh and to Cable Forum

Thanks for that, ive had the STB replaced in the last few months from a pace to a samsung which fixed the initial problem but has now given me these issues. Is there a particular box which is better than the rest that i should demand??

Re: Samsung STB replacement

You get whatever STB the tech has, if they deem replacement necessary. As a rule the Samsungs are considered the better STBs.

There can be other reasons for problems, typically the signal strength being poor. Faults would determine whether or not the symptoms you are experiencing require an engineer visit or not.

The Mini Guide is generally a law unto itself for reliability, rarely to do with the box itself.

Does yours change channel on its own? Mine does, NTL engineer has been out and didn't replace it. Its still happening now and I'm no nearer to solving it. He said if he replaced it, I would get a PACE box and have even more problems.

No but it could be used with Sky.

Nudge nudge, wink wink.

You might even get to receive a decent DTV service.
