Windows Sound Help

Going mad here

Dunno what the heck has happened to my windows system sounds but they are not mapping through my soundcard so I get no sound

Anyone know how I restore this ? This all happened since I installed k-lite codecs : uninstalled that and am still getting the same problem

Any suggestions ?

Can you use system restore to a point before you installed the codecs?

Goto Control-Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices and make sure output is set to the correct place.

Re: Windows Sound Help

The one strange thing I have noticed is within device manger >

Sound, video and game controllers > Audio Codecs >

There is no device usage : Should these not be mapped to a device ?

Re: Windows Sound Help

I always recommend people don't turn system restore off! I used it myself the other day to revert back to normal after vista transformation pack screwed me over.

Hey I had exactly the same problem as you when I installed the K-Lite Codec Pack... but when I uninstalled it, the sound came back... Maybe you could try re-downloading your sound card driver...

You could try downloading a different codec pack... I use this one now.

Re: Windows Sound Help

House points and gold stars all round.

Its not quite sorted yet I'm downloading a few codec packs but dont think it'll help as the codecs that I have lost are generic microsoft ones we'll see how I get on
