On an old Pace 1000 box, it can seem like an eternity to change

'coming soon'
Now that's exaggeration!
Maybe 29 mins then?
Amazing what you can see if you don't have ntl tinted glasses.

30 mins to change the channel. What a joke of system.
When are we gonna get one that changes as quickly as the sky version did from day one? is it really that difficult? how hard can it be?

Thanks for that well informed and needed contribution to this debate gary. Its such a shame that your broadband is not put to better use than to continually spout bull**** and crap. One day you will make a post on this forum that will be read with interest instead of hilarity. That day is a long way off
Garyparson's the bull**** king strikes again

Personally I don't find Sky particularly quick either - granted its faster than the TVDrive and the TW box I have.
They should all aim for Freeview speeds

Re: EX C&W have virgin firmware on there STB
sorry for having an opinion. thought i saw the word 'forum' somewhere? also thought that personal attacks weren't allowed here? or is it ok for some but not others?
I don't understand how it went from being ok in the last version to being screwed up in the current form? i thought they had testers to check this sort of thing? you've only got to change channel once and you realise it's wrong.

Even the old pace on digital box speeds would be an improvement

There is opinion and then there is out and out bull****. I have never in my time working for cable seen a settop box take 30 minutes to change channels. How can you expect to be taken seriously if you come out with crap like you have posted. It does not help anyone here and just shows you up for what you are.
The crux of the matter is that you have been on this forum before. You came out with crap like that before as well. Because your area has been re segmented it has made it possible to sign up here again as your ubr address will have changed, this has allowed you to login as another user GARY. Sorry but your posting style just gives you away, I have never seen anyone else post the way you do since a certain GARYPARSONS was banned.
Now if i get shouted at for this post fine. But someone has to let others know that you have been here before as another user i am fairly certain of that.

Re: EX C&W have virgin firmware on there STB
The problem I think with Liberate (which is what NTL/TW use) is the interface is actually powered by some kind of web browser, and all written in HTML and Javascript. This is TOTAL overkill for an STB which won't be running at more than 50MHz.
The Sky system (based on opentv I believe) is fast because it is all native code. The only delay I have seen in channel changing in Sky is mainly due to this having to re-tune the LNB to a different signal, and wait for a stream lock to be aquired. On cable, this doesn't happen - the delay is mostly the software "getting around to it".

Re: EX C&W have virgin firmware on there STB
On my Sky box, channel changing takes a fraction of a second. On my ntl box it takes three. Speaks for itself really.

I have seen older pace box's take up to 5 seconds to change.
Nice to see realistic posts instead of Out and out bull****.
So not 30 Min's then like some say
