Unhappy The Big Switch Off ... and my other tellies

I subscribe to NTL television to get my digital services as I live in one of those areas that Freeview doesn't cover. The aerial on top of my house is no longer connected.

I have wired up my house in the way recommended on this board to pipe the analogue output of my Samsung STB box so that the other 3 televisions not near the STB can see channels 1-5 independently of what is being viewed in the living room.

In a few years from now the Government is turning off all the analogue broadcasts ("The Big Switch Off") and whilst at first I thought that this may not seem to affect me - because I'm already digital - it did make me think. Will NTL continue to provide an analogue feed from its STBs so I can use this to feed my other TVs? If they don't, those TVs are going to be useless unless I pay lots of money to get additional STBs around the house.

So what am I to do? Does anyone have any thoughts on what NTL might do to help us?

Probably as much as the government and the BBC/ ITV etc. Why would NTL provide an analogue feed after the switch off? All they are currently doing is relaying the transmitted analogue feed from the BBC etc, once that is gone they have nothing to relay.

30 quid per TV to upgrade your TV'S from analogue to digital for DTT, thats what DTT stbs are at the moment. Admittedly you will require an external antenna looking at a DTT site.
Its not ntl's problem. They are in the game to make money, not provide free TV.

Once analogue terrestrial TV is turned off, you will be able to get digital. The problem, at the moment, is we are in a state of flux having to run both services simultaneously.

like Creative said, but after the switch off they intend upping the output power and pulling more of the transmitters together to transmit on the same frequences so as to increase the range and coverage at the same time so even if you dont get a very good reception now (have you tryed a high gain external arial, might work) then many more people will by that time.

there are other options of course but the £22-£30 box is the easyest and quick one.

other options
