Indeed, but this means if I want to use HDMI in my living room, and I also want to distribute my RF from the living room (my current RF distribution source) to the 4 other TVs in my house, that's a problem.

Thanks very much for the answers though - it's given me some stuff to think about.

Re: PVR release dates

Does anyone know if taking the new PVR ties you into a 12 month contract?

It does tie you into a new 12 month contract on the Telewest TVDrive so it's bound to be the same for NTL

It is also worth noting that you are tied to 12 months for the second STB if you opt for the £5 deal:

Re: PVR release dates

Damn! I'm looking to move house April/May time of next year and was going to go with Freeview in the new place. We don't have an aerial at the current house, so looks like i'm stuck with paying £75 install fee then £10 base pack per month + £15 per month on top to rent the Tvdrive....and I'll be stuck in a 12 month contract

All this just because i want to ditch the video recorder and record via a PVR drive! In fact it looks like it will be far cheaper to just get an aerial installed for freeview, ditch NTL and buy a nice Humax pvr9200t for 180 quid.

Re: PVR release dates

Well, ntl sales are now saying December 12th for the Guildford area (I'm GU14) and said I could book an install for the 13th. I hope it doesn't slip as it would be nice to have it installed in time for Christmas.

I'm guessing TiVo could use the live tuner on the TVDrive for remote recordings when not at home?

Get NTL to relocate the Samsung when they install the TVDrive. (This will be standard practice for people keeping their existing box)

Quadplay, if we get the PVR and we keep the Samsung for another room will they use the Samsung for broadband or will they also provide a standalone modem?
Thanks,

Michelle

Re: PVR release dates

If you already use the Samsung for broadband, it would make sense I suppose to keep using it - but I haven't seen any official guidance on this scenario, so the honest answer is I don't know!

Thanks, I guess I was worrying more about re-wiring but I suppose they will be doing some anyway, so a bit of extra for the broadband is nothing compared to having to supply a modem.

Don't suppose you know when the PVR will be available in HP8 by any chance?

Thanks for you help!

Just tried to order it and the system is down.

The CS rep asked for our STB number and the Smart Card number for some reason

You managed far better than I did. I called NTL sales on Wednesday and spoke to a girl who advised she had the training and that sometime in December it would be available , wasn't able to book it for me. Seems I like the touch to get someone to do a booking for me if indeed they are meant too? I live in GU16, perhaps thats the difference.

Anyway will try again and see if 3rd time lucky makes any difference..
