Connect with cable always runs faster than wireless as there is a loss factor having to be converted to broadcast, very little loss using Cat 5. I think !

The only real thing you could do which may reduce the speed is:

(and please read to bottom as I put easy things at top)

Make sure you have a good signal... stupid but had to be said.

Make sure you have MTU setting matched on router and pc.

To check this:

start > run > cmd > ping -l 1500 -f www.google.com

If you get a fragment comment:

Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set.

then you need to reduce down your MTU on your ethernet adapter to MTU max - 1.

Read some cba to explain all

Are you running any other wireless devices in your house? I ask as our video sender for the TV completely blocks our router if I set it to channel 6 and either side of it the speed is completely rubbish.

no there are no other wireless connections, it just seems really slow....is there anyway i can find out if someone else is connected to the network...it is all locked/encrypted etc, but it would still be nice to check..

Doesn't Bluetooth interfere with 802.11x also, since it runs on the 2.4GHz band?
