From what I've read, when the new Telewest-style EPG is released, NTL will be bringing their VOD pricing in line with Telewest, meaning (hopefully?) that all TV Hits content will be free to people on the Family Pack.

That to my mind is exactly what ntl should be doing now - getting in ahead of Sky's offering and pushing the benefits of VOD, and its non reliance on a phone line or additional subscription for the service not only to existing customers, but Sky customers and non cabled people as well in areas where there is digital capability on the network. You'd also give existing analogue customers another incentive to switch across too.
Content is king and needs to be constantly added to as well - its not just the functionality thats going to be important. If TV Hits programming is turned "free" for Family Pack customers then it does give us a little "extra" for our money each month, it'd be seen as ntl doing something for their most valuable customers in terms of spend. They'd also stand a better chance of them converting across from the free content to pay content at some point too.

Within the last few months I've gained - improved software on the boxes, better actual boxes, and the superb VOD facility.
I really believe ntl are "getting there" now. And I'm delighted about that.

Could not agree more. We have had VOD for about 7 weeks now and can really see the value of it. Will be brilliant once TV Drive is available and will establish NTL/Telewest as a real alternative to Sky. Proposed dates for PVR sound encouraging. Anyone any idea when it will be available in Leeds?

Here we go again with the when will it be available in blah blah blah. Just remember that 'coming soon' could take years sometimes. If and when PVR shows up NTL will have bridged the two year gap that it currently is behind sky. Now they need to sort out little things like the box taking forever to change channel.
