Re: Swansea proxies
Spoke too soon, seems there are still problems with pages not loading properly, using swan cache 6 at present and all works really well, tried cache 3 but that is slow and does not always load pages, cache 1 also.

Re: Swansea proxies
I think it's the DNS servers playing up. Try pinging the web address for the 'real' address
Start > Run > cmd to open a DOS box, type ping www.bbc.co.uk and you'll get something like:
Pinging www.bbc.net.uk [212.58.227.77] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 212.58.227.77: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=244
Reply from 212.58.227.77: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=244
Reply from 212.58.227.77: bytes=32 time=17ms TTL=244
Reply from 212.58.227.77: bytes=32 time=15ms TTL=244
Ping statistics for 212.58.227.77:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 15ms, Maximum = 17ms, Average = 16ms
As you see there's no packet loss, drop 212.58.227.77 into you're browser and see if it loads.

Re: Swansea proxies
Just pinged radiotimes.com:
Pinging rtwww.bbc.net.uk [212.58.235.200] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 212.58.235.200:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
point browser to 212.58.235.200 and site eventually appeared, this is without specifying a proxy, after setting a proxy site loads ok.
All the time out problems do go away when i specify a proxy.

Re: Swansea proxies
Note that
a) some sites do not respond to pings, microsoft.com is an example, so you will never get a reply
b) Since pings do not go via the proxies a good ping result does not necessarily mean you can view the site in question if there's a problem with the proxies or vice versa.
---------- Post added at 07:25 ---------- Previous post was at 07:10 ----------
All currently returning code 200 on all Swansea proxies.
Working OK on all but swan-cache-2, swan-cache-5 and swan-cache-7
ebuyer.co.uk redirects to ebuyer.com anyway however

Re: Swansea proxies
Swansea proxies have been cack for the last two weeks or so for myself, been manually swapping between swan-cache-1, swan-cache-3, swan-cache-5 and swan-cache-7 - seems strange that the even numbers proxies are causing the problems, odd numbers proxies ok. So long as Swansea never gets a swan-cache-666, bet that will be the worst performing proxy of them all if Swansea ever ends up needing that many, lol!

Funny that as i get better results cycling through the even number proxies.
Don't expect any improvement anytime soon as proxies have always been a problem with ntl.

Well they'd better - the problem seems to be getting worse and worse. I'm currently using the Cardiff proxies, which on a traceroute means my traffic is going from Swansea - Birmingham - Cardiff - Birmingham/Winnerish. Hardly the best option, but it working out better than using Swansea proxies at present.

Same here, switch proxy and that works for a few hours and then nada, so switch to another and so on ad infinitum.
