Angry Change RF Channel Output On General Instruments CFT-2100

Can anyone tell me how to change the rf output channel on the general instruments cft-2100 cable receiver/convertor. i have been in touch with
NTL and they have told me where to go. i know that you can enter the engineers menu by holding buttons on the front when powering up, but don't know which ones to press.
the output channel is 46 and interferes with channel 5 (48). channel 5 also interferes with cable viewing.

Why did NTL tell you where to go? If it's faulty, it needs fixing.

Try calling again.

Oh, and Welcome!

It can only be done by sending a signal from NTL. I cannot see why they told you where to go unless the box is not on there system ?. NTL should be able to do this for you. As spiderplant said phone them again.

Exclamation Re: Change RF Channel Output On General Instruments CFT-2100

i cant believe ntl have told you to do anything in the engineers menu(as its only for engineers). What do you mean they ve told you "where to go"?

And YES you can alter the rf output from the engineers menu.

Ntl usually set the outputs of their boxes between 52 and 65 to avoid the mentioned cross modulation problems.(clashing).
Where have you had this box from??????

The op is talking about a jerrold analogue set top box. The only way to adjust the rf on those was via the network. If i am wrong i stand corrected. Jerrold was set to channel 46 as standard. In all the years i spent installing and on faults, I never ever set the RF via the menu on a jerrold box. I always had to call for a hit on the box.

Re: Change RF Channel Output On General Instruments CFT-2100

when i worked at NTL the output channel had to be changed on the network and couldnt be done via the box itself as Bill C said
