Internet Explorer Problem
Hey guys can anyone tell me why, if i leave my computer for over half an hour of not surfing the net, IE will not load any webpages. Yet if i have something downloading on say Bit-torrent, the BT will still be d/l but yet IE will still not open. It just seems to hang. I've managed to get it to work again if i keep on opening a webpage straight after one another then sometimes eventually it will just "kick" back in. Its annoying me having to reboot my comp all the time. Can be playing an online game with no probs then when i come out and open IE it does nothing. Any ideas?
*EDIT* Spoke to my mate and it does the same thing to him...is there some kinda setting we've turned off or missed?

If you don't get an answer here, try the Microsoft web interface newsgroups. There are plenty of experts that hang out there.

Why don't you post your question on there.
Just browsing through, you may not find what you're after. There are some very knowledgeable people that use those newsgroups.

Yeah, but that doesn't fix his IE problem. And you still need to use IE for some sites.

I do use FireFox! And sometimes Opera. A decent IE-based alternative is Maxthon (if you want IE-based that is).

Re: Internet Explorer Problem
Are you using Zone Alarm? If so check the box for "Allow outgoing DNS/DHCP in the trusted zone"...
If not, it may still be a DNS problem. When you can't connect in IE, if you type http://216.239.39.99 in the address bar can you connect to Google?
If you can, try ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns in a command window in case your dns cache is corrupt...

Re: Internet Explorer Problem
Thanx just ticked the box in zonealarm...will see if that makes a difference...ALL computers have Zone Alarm on them when i've seen this prob ...might just be coincidence though
Cant connect to google through that either...its as if my internet just shuts off after 20-30 mins of non usage but it ONLY affects IE...if im using Limewire or Bit-Torrent (for legal stuff ) it still downloads ok...just the webpages that dont open when i click on IE...will report back though and see if this Zone Alarm thingy has worked...Thanx again.

Re: Internet Explorer Problem
If you're going through a router, make sure it's in the trusted zone in ZoneAlarm.
Click the tab on the left for Firewall- look at the setting for your router under zone. If it says Internet change it to trusted.
