In analogue-only areas I'd agree with you 100%.

After 8 years of charging customers to view "Plus", they are now saying that the same programs will be shown on ITV3 for free!

It seems like ITV must have money to burn at the moment, considering they have just paid Sky £10mill ion and will now be showing programmes for free, which they previously charged for.

I'll believe it when I see it!

No offence meant (hence the )

I don't think anyone is trying to 'belittle' you at all.
ITV have stopped broadcasting a channel, nothing more sinister than that....

Like I said, no offence meant.

Sorry as well Neil, I just got a little upset as you can imagine as now I'm in an awkward position as my mother doesn't understand why she can't watch Plus anymore unless we go digital and why she's still paying for a degraded service

I feel NTL ought to just drop the analogue service altogether and offer their users a decent upgrade to a digital package in compensation for the ever decreasing number of analogue channels.

I think a call to NTL is in order just to see what's what!

Re: [Merged] ITV3-coming to ntl??

Can anyone enlighten me as to why people who have the option of digital are still on analogue? I'm guessing it's nothing to do with cost as you wouldn't have cable in the first place.

It looks like cost is may be the issue (in WJ's case anyway)

Web-Junkie-perhaps the answer is for you to ditch the 2 analogue boxes, & just have one digital box?

If ITV3 is supposed to be broadcasting 24hrs a day then why is at least 6 hours devoted to teleshopping and a text service? Doesn't count as 24hrs to me.

Analogue base pack = £3.50/month. Digital Base pack = £10/month. Need I say more? The day ntl's digital base pack is available at £3.50/month I'll be on the phone to them.

Anyway Sam B's post sounded promising for us analogue customers. I can appreciate that ntl have been thrust into a difficult situation, but I can't see any reason why both ITV and ntl wouldn't want to simply replace Plus with ITV3. I know Granada Plus used to timeshare woth Men+Motors, on analogue, not sure if this is still the case (don't sub to the appropriate pack), but even if it is then NTL could fill up the daytime space with ITV3, or another channel if ITV are unwilling to broadcast on analogue (ABC1 broadcasts daytime only )

Re: [Merged] ITV3-coming to ntl??

But you must admit for £3.50 per month you still get a good selection of channels. It looks as if the channel owners want to pull out of analogue.

Perhaps NTL could freeze the price for a year instead!

(Watch out for those flying pigs....)

The point being though, if you can't/won't pay for the superior service, don't complain about the fact that the one you have is inferior.

No mention of Sky either, so it could well appear on Analogue shortly. Whether or not it does appears to be out of NTL's control. If it doesn't, I would hazard a guess that a lot of analogue customers will switch to Freeview - good for the planned analogue switch-off, but perhaps not so good for NTL.

The complaint was not that the analogue service was inferior, but that having subscribed, largely to view Plus, the plug had been pulled (even if not by NTL) with no notice and no reduction in charge. A legitimate gripe, I think.
