2004/2005 ntl Student Cable Package Offer

For the students amongst us...

ntl are repeating their student offer this year, whereby the minimum contract is 9 months. The difference this year is that it is possible to get digital TV (and the phone line rental is free), and also reduced price broadband - £15.99 for 300k, or £19.99 for 750k. Proof of being a student might be required though!

Would this apply to an existing customer? We've had ntl services for the past 12 months - and I'm only on the lowly 300k service at the moment.

I'm in East London.

Sorry, the bundled offer applies to new ntl customers only - although if you live with another student, you could always put it in their name... For reference, I've put the full text of the small print below, in case it's unreadable in the scan I've done.

ntl services available only in ntl cabled streets and subject to availability and network capacity. 9 month minimum term contract and price assumes full payment of your monthly bills by Direct Debit. All prices include VAT. ntl services are subject to ntl's terms and conditions, Residential Customer Service Agreement and User Policy. You must be 18 or over to take ntl services. Calls to technical support are charged at 50p per minute. BROADBAND OFFER Full payment of your monthly Broadband Internet bill must be made by Direct Debit. Minimum computer requirements apply. Modem remains property of ntl. FREE LINE RENTAL Standard ntl rates and 5p connection charge apply to all calls. You must continue to take the Digital TV Student Offer for the full 9 months to benefit from free telephone line rental. Free telephone line rental is for 9 months after which it will be charged at ntl's standard rates (currently £9.50 per month). ntl reserves the right to charge for all bundled offer services at the offer rate for any remaining months of the 9 month period if you stop being an ntl customer or cancel any of the bundled services within that minimum term. I have to say well done to NTL in this case.It seems like a great offer.

I won't mention it to my now ex-student daughter though in case she blows a gasket.

Hangy on, it says "Bundled offer applies to new ntl customers only" - which implies that it is the bundled tv and phone package that you can only get as a new customer. Does this mean I could still get the upgrade to 750k for £2 on top of what I now pay for 300k?

I'm going to answer myself again - the 750k Broadband is only available at the lower price as part of a bundle including TV and Telephone. We've just got bband and phone here. Oh well!

I'm in Oxford, the street definatly has Ntl as the previous owners of the house had cable so all the wires are allready installed.
