Champions League
Anyone able to find out if Celtic are being shown next wednedsay on the Sky Sports channels we get with NTL. They aren't on SS2 so I'm hoping they are on Extra as the featured match otherwise I'll not get to see it.
I'm gutted that this is likely to happen as I pay NTL so much bloody money to basically see Celtic play football. Now in one of biggest matches of the season against AC Milan I'm gonna have to listen to it on the bloody radio
If its not featured that is Hopefully it is.
Anyone in the know ?

Re: Champions League
Thanks you two
Looks like I'll have to go to the pub. Gutted that NTL charge so much yet deliver such an inferior service to Sky. You'd think by now they could have sorted it so we actually get as much value for money as Sky punters do. Think I'm about ready to take the plunge now.

Re: Champions League
This is a good site for football on television...... : http://www.knplogic.co.uk/sport/
Checking the site out - says Multiscreen only...
What you have to remember is that this year there are currently 5 British teams in the Champions League.....and with only 2 channels available something has to give. However I can feel some sympathy with our colleagues North of the border - but to be fair your complaint should be with Sky not ntl.......
Suggestion - (can't see you location in reply to thread screen) - if you are in Scotland - I'm sure your local Licensed premises will go to Sky Sports Extra; press the red button and select the Celtic match....
Hopefully - this week sees 5 positive results for the British Sides....

Re: Champions League
Aye I'm in Scotland and there will be plenty of pubs showing it. How is it Skys fault though ? Do they not give NTL access to the multiscreen or something ? I'm paying for Sky Sports Extra but not really getting any of the Extra stuff. If its Skys fault and not NTLs I'd like to know though.

Im a Gers fan m8 (Shhhhhh No slagging ) and i had the exact same thing last year when Rangers played Panathanaikos in the C/L.....Had to go to the pub to watch it ...AFAIK it aint Sky's fault cause they are providing coverage of the game on Sky Sports Extra its just NTL dont have the same...ermmm lets say..."interactive qualities" as Sky.....BTW i have been with NTL for 6 years and always defended them but through coincidence i started working for Sky 2 weeks ago and after learning the difference between the 2 i'll DEFFO be moving my tv package to Sky....BUT...I'll be keeping NTL broadband cause i like it ...Good luck against AC! (I mean that!)

Re: Champions League
Well it's like this. BSkyB don't want to pay for something that will directly benefit their main competitor in the digital TV arena. On the one hand, you can see this from a business point of view.
On the other hand, it costs them money to supply this service to Sky Digital subscribers (they have to rent transponder space from Astra). They earn the same amount of money from an NTL subscriber to Sky Sports as they do from a Sky Digital subscriber to Sky Sports. So why shouldn't they spend the same amount of money on all their subscribers, regardless of the platform they're on?
In my opinion, the regulator should split BSkyB into separate content and supply divisions to stop this sort of thing happening. But that'll never happen...
It's a bit like Microsoft making both the dominant operating system, and the dominatant office package. They could kill the Mac tomorrow by announcing that they wouldn't be making Office X anymore, but it keeps the government off their backs to at least been seen to be being "platform neutral" in Office development (so where's the Linux version, Bill?). The regulator could enforce a similar rule on Sky here, but probably won't...

Thanks mate. I think it happened last year with Celtic Bayern aswell. I think we'll get humped by AC Milan btw, but its very cool that you are at least saying gl, even if you won't be too upset when we get thrashed
Nice one, cheers.

Re: Champions League
Apparantly NTL are getting bombarded by folk wanting to know if they are showing the Celtic match. Obviously not, but on the pre-recorded message when you call it says unfortunately due to broadcasting restrictions' NTL are unable to broadcast the Celtic match.
The broadcasting restrictions namely being that their bloody interactive doesn't work. Ring up btw, they make it sound like its something outwith their control.

erm it is something out of their control, the fact that sky will not give them or telewest the interactive services on sky sports channels not a lot ntl can do about it

Re: Champions League
I keep getting two different stories. One that says NTL aren't given the Sky Sports Extra channels. The other that says NTL interactive isn't far enough down the line to support it.
Their interative never works for the stuff that is freely available, bbc for eg, precious few things work. So I'm inclined to believe its NTL rather than Sky tbh, perhaps I'm wrong. One thing I know though, its **** poor having NTL, paying the same as Sky customers and not getting alot of the good bits.
We get Sky Sports Extra without any of the extra bits.
