I agree with that question, but I doubt very much if anyone at ntl: is going to make it any easier for us than with this sneaked in shopping channel on a randomly generated number.
After all, with all the requests/rumours/yells from CF and DS forumers over the last few months where are the two main requested channels:

FX289 - no nearer, and they're running their "call ntl:/telewest" campaign again......

VH2 - No sign as yet - and what happened with that "strong industry rumour", reported on this very forum, that it was to launch on ntl: in August 2004?

Apart from Express, the only other "new channel" has been Quiz TV that's been timesharing with TV Travel Shop on 633!

Is there a good reason for getting your Sky channels via NTL, other than it avoids that ugly dish?
You are not wrong !

I joined cable NTL because I expected :-

1. Loads of extra content for each channel

2. Loads of extra chanels (300+ as is common in the States)

3. Innovative Phone service (NB Can't even get CLI !!)

4. Full interactive service eg on Sports Channels

REALITY : NONE of the above

Most of channel in the States are crap. I wouldnt care if we got an extra 300 channels as i most certainly would probably not watch them.

Re: New Channel Launched?

I've been with NTL for 11 months, since moving house last year. I didn't want the ugly dish.

I checked out the website and saw that NTL appeared to have the main channels, so I signed up for the TV, Phone (not free) and 1Meg BB.

Since joining, the service has been cr@p with the TV signal being lost every couple of weeks through "Dunno Guv" faults. The BB usually is reliable but when I have had to call the service line, the wait has been 30 mins+.

Every couple of weeks we have an outage of TV and BB during office hours. Miraculously it comes back on between 5 and 6pm each time. This wouldn't be a problem other than the fact I work from home a lot and each time I do, the damn line goes down, knocking out my email service.

In addition, they have put an already expensive BB service up £3 per month, when all the competitors put their prices down. The TV price sneaked up a pound or two, while the service has not improved one bit.

NTL treats its customers with total contempt and that is why I have sent cancellation notices for my TV and BB services this week. If I were not using my BT line for work, I'd cancelled the phone line too.

It's no wonder $ky are pulling in so many punters than the cable companies. At least their product works and you can actually talk to someone who knows what they are selling you.

Sky are the ONLY reason the TV price has increased. When they increase their prices to customers, they also increase them to ntl. They have, unusually, done this TWICE this year.

You pay exactly the same price with Sky as you with ntl, despite what some of their salesmen say.
