Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again

Think you are being a bit unfair to NTL they have thrown lodasmoney at e-mail and it still does not work.
You have to understand things do not always work at NTL but they are improving e-mail will work consistantly one day.

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again

mine is working now but i know it has lost at least three emails.

i setup the 'forward and keep a copy' thing last time i read this thread.
the new account received them ok, so they must have reached ntl's servers at some point.
i don't understand why i haven't received them on the ntl account too if that happened.
i even tried sending an email to myself and that didn't arrive.

i can provide full headers if necessary...

Re: [Merged] E-Mail dead again

Webmail is *still* not working!
Strangely, the server status page hasa finally been updated to say that there are problems, but POP3/SMTP was working fine this morning! (it's just webmail that's down).
Fortunately the email forwarding stuff is working fine so I'm getting all my messages via my work address.

It's Friday, it's five o'clock...

...the mailservers are starting to grind to a halt again. Painfully slow response for the last couple of hours, duplicate copies of messages being received - I think we all know what comes next. Sigh. Presumably we can look forward to this with every weekend spam surge for the next few months, then?

BTW - anybody with missing mail from the last outage seen it yet? I haven't - and I still haven't seen any mention of this problem on the service status page, despite them being told by me and presumably others.

Not many. I doubt most smtp servers would allow you, even less would survive the attempt.

I now have visions of smoke pouring out of NTLs email server cluster as we speak.

It's not smoke - it's steam venting from the pressure safety valve on the boiler
