yup bung in some grotty old coax you have lying about and see how far you get
have a look for some decent quality stuff somewhere like maplin , and make sure you get some good connectors on the end , not *****ty screw on ones
also dont make the run too much longer or you may end up with signal strength problems

Re: What sort of Cable?
don't fiddle with your cable unless you know what you are doing if something goes wrong and you have to call out an engineer you may be charged. It is also possible to cause problems for other ntl customers in your area.
rant over - it's usually RG59 internally and RG6 externally - both are flavours of coax

Ahh right I'm going to maplin tomorrow to get some, as long as they sell it, its not going to far but just enough that I need to extend it.
Cheers.

If you tell them what you want, most Maplins have at least one guy who can make it for you - often the sale of the cable & connectors is enough for this to be a free service? - make it sound like you might buy loads more stuff can help

My internal cable is CT100, which is double screened satellite grade coax and has half the loss of RG59.
Maplin sell it as FT100. It costs twice as much as the RG59, but I would recommend it.
Maplin code is XS17T for white and XS16S for black @ 99p per metre.

Cable uses something like 100MHz upto 800MHz. Satellite uses between 900MHz and 2GHz. The coax for each is designed specifically for the use.
CT100 will work but may not have the low loss specified in the cable frequency range.
As MB says tho, don't mess with it.

Re: What sort of Cable?
Do those terms define "equipment" anywhere ? If not you could argue that cable is not equipment.

From paragraph 1 on the terms, entitled "definitions"
Quote:

"Equipment" means any line, desk top converter or other equipment or apparatus provided by Us as an essential part of providing Services under the terms of this Agreement;
