Question Manipulating resolution for a game

Hi all,

Just wondered if there's a solution for a problem I'm having. When running a (fairly old) game, it opens as full screen, and not in the same resolution as my desktop (1280x1024). I'm guessing that the game is running in something like 800x600. Anyway, the upshot of this is that my tft doesn't like it, and the screen is offset, cutting off about an inch from the righthand side of the display. The power light on the tft flashes too (I'm guessing to express it's displeasure). The game has no options to change resolution.

So, is there any way of forcing the resolution, running the game windowed (as I say it's old) or changing my monitor settings to display it correctly?

Re: Manipulating resolution for a game

Try pressing ALT and ENTER when the game is running, certain games will switch to windowed mode (pretty much anything based on the Q3A engine), most won't though.

You could also right click the shortcut (or make one first if you don't have one) I'm sure there's something under that for running applications in a window, might just be for DOS apps. though.

When your pc boots do you loose an inch off your screen? this is a problem with tft monitors, they hate low resolutions, your best bet is, boot in dos (if you can) tell your tft to auto set (or do it manually) if you can!

TFT screens only work properly in there native resolution!
