Street Furniture

Does anyone have a number to report vandalised ntl street furniture? I once got a number off the old .com forum (shows you how long the problem has been going), after I got disconnected for a 3 days to find out some turd has ripped out all the wires. I called the number, had to call about 5 more before I got the right place. Even then they said: "Leave it with us", and soime 10 months now, it hasn't been sorted. I drove past the other day and there is a cable hanging loose again.

So does anyone know a number that they know is the right department? Or is there anyone on the inside that can make sure it gets done? I'd be much obliged if anyone can help.

Should just be a matter of calling it through on 0800 052 2000.

Seeing as you're a Londoner though, I can take care of it. If you PM me with as many of the following details as possible, I'll get it chased up tomorrow:

Street and number of nearest house OR name of any adjoining streets if it's at a junction
A partial postcode
Any letters/numbers on the outside of the cabinet
The approximate size of the cabinet (probably either 3' or 5')

Cheers,

Re: Street Furniture

I wouldnt count on much being done about it.
We had a NTL big green box at the bottom of our street that a car smashed into a year ago and its only just been sorted out this past month.

In fact, they have still left a steel rod pointing out so maybe if I go and trip over it I could sue them. ;-)

Re: Street Furniture

I reported a box that had had the front ripped off by the bad winds we had a couple of months back....as it was tied in with a service call anyway the tech that came round did have a look, but he said he couldn't fix it and had reported it to be dealth with. That was two months ago, and it's till hanging off.

Re: Street Furniture

It's not looking good then. Basically i'm just waiting for some little s***e to come along and rip out the wires again, thus depriving me of service again. And just to rub it in, he'll probably do it on friday morning meaning i'll have to wait til monday to get it back on.

I wouldn't mind just memorising the plug it is in (the wire has my address on it), and just plug it in if anyone does. But i'd probably get sued or something if anything went wrong (even if it was nothing to do with me plugging the wires back in.

There has got to be a way of making NTL take bloody notice though, this is ridiculous. I'd fix the damn thing myself for free if they'd let me.

Re: Street Furniture

I think we all deserve a years free Internet (I wish) for helping out NTL.
Last year I used to put the box back together as the lids and sides would fall off.
Finally one day an NTL person came and had a very good idea to bolt the thing together so now no one can get in it.

sorted.

That's a pretty good idea. They might be a miffed that I did nothing for basically a year, but i've had better things to do than call NTL incessently. Plus I kept forgetting to.

Peachy and Pritch said they would get on the case. I'll give NTL a reasonable IMO amount of time to get it fixed (I'd say a week, so that's thursday), if they've had no luck, it's probably worth a call, along with Watchdog maybe.. I shouldn't be so lethargic about it now.

Re: Street Furniture

Its fixed!!!!

If anyone did anything to fix it, a big thank you goes out to you. Thanx to Pritch and peachy as well for trying. I know it wasn't me that fixed it, because as usual, I just forgot about it, but now the door is on and there is a load of yellow/black hatching caution tape around it. Not brilliant, but a start!
