Question Toner, toner toner? whats the difference?

Does anyone actually know the difference between photocopier toner & laser printer toner etc?

I have heard of stories of one not being compatable with the other, even with laser printers etc.

Does anyone know of a great big database that details what takes what toner & whats compatible with what?

(I can get some (make that lots of) free "what" toner & I have a "what" printer to use it in).

Re: Toner, toner toner? whats the difference?

I would guess that the toner used is dependant on the fuser used in the photocopier/printer

Have to agree with that. When the AA was trying to cut costs, they started using NiceDay toner cartriges for their laserjets.
Our hardware guy was forever changing fuser units and other components, and users would have work ruined by dodgy cartriges leaking toner over the page.

earthair is an unknown quantity at this point
Re: Toner, toner toner? whats the difference?

They're made of the same material, but particle size varies depending on the resolution. According to Wiki the standard is 8 micrometres for 600 dpi. There's also some useful info here.

Different toner fuses to the paper at different temperatures.
