Very good idea you do not do NTL justice

Sorry not being able to get back to you soon been very busy, improving my customers experience.
Perhaps a little less pontificating from you, and blaming the customers for their views about the company.
If you have the authority to improve the service instead of arguing with customers you might try to improve the service.
And contrary to your opinion th’engineer is fully behind anything to get NTL to improve the service.
If you talked to certain people in the company you would realise that, if you can not understand customers concerns about the total mess.
That was made with the Manchester proxies you really are in not at all customer focused.
When you understand the customer requirements you may then be able to alleviate there fears of the introduction of the poxes .

Either you're talking in the 3rd person or that's a quote from someone - who?
I'm not going to persue this on here - assuming that is a quote from an email I would very much like to know who so that I can speak to them directly.
If not who are you to tell me I am not customer focussed, you go on a baseless rant regarding how bad proxies are and have the nerve to tell me that I should understand customers concerns? When they are rational I'm only too happy too - talk to DuncanB on this forum, I spent hours officially and unofficially working on his issues, along with many others, how dare you claim I don't care about customers. I care so long as they have a point, those who just complain for the sake of it I have no time for.
Manchester proxy issues were then, this is now, different technology, different implementations.
Either way you have no business telling me I am not customer focussed, I know you seem to think you're on the 'inside' and have more right to be heard and have concerns acted on than other customers, I know you have contacts within the company, who are probably rather tired of your very regular phonecalls. I work hard to improve service for ntl's customers as those who know me and the work I do will attest to, how dare you tell me that I don't, you don't know me or what I do, I just disagree with you, I care about our customers, just not someone who appears to have their own ego to serve, and complains for fun.

Re: Merged-Manchester Browsing Slow.
JustAnotherNoob is the most active guys in irc and he's forever fixing peoples problems or referring them to other departments, in his own time! If thats not customer focus, what the hell is! He should be relaxing with his family but no, he's helping us guys out. He sorts anything out from bad signals, packet loss, congested upstream, proxies all as favours. Normally it should be routed through the call centre etc. He's always working late and puts in a lot of effort. He's helped me out a lot, so from first hand experience im telling you he is totally customer focused. He's never spoke to me b4 in his life but he took the time out to help me with some issues i had.
Infact he's helped me out a lot, most recently just last night when he spent ages trying to figure out which upstream (available to me) was the least likely to deteriate my service.
The proxies are actually a lot better than they used to be. netApp is insanely quick and inktomi's are definatly improved. I suggest you keep your little rants to yourself. You need to respect people to get anywhere and you obviously dont have that.

Hey... erm, I haven't been following this thread, but just thought I would put my 2p worth in on this one.
I quite honestly think that 'JustAnotherN00b' is a credit to NTL.
I have had connection issues for quite a few months, and was on/off the phone to NTL customer/technical support a /lot/. They were unable to help me, and sent about 6 engineers around. Each one just checked the cable modem power levels, etc etc. I also had a cable re-fit done, etc (I will not bore you with the details)
Anyway, JustAnotherN00b spent a LONG time over a couple of weeks working with local network techs in my area to provide a resolution to my problem. He has spent his OWN time (out of work hours) helping me too, and always seems happy to help.
So please, do not claim that JustAnotherN00b is not customer focused, without any hard evidence and facts, because he most certainly is.
Cheers

Re: Merged-Manchester Browsing Slow.
Well, what can I say?
JAN00b is one of the most helpful ntl people around. Along with all the other ntl staff in the chat room they go out of their way to help customers.
Can I suggest that you visit the chat room th'engineer, and see what actually goes on in there. You may be in for a surprise. Be warned, however, that we do not see favourably of people who are there just to moan, you will most likely be kicked and banned.
In the meantime, go and learn what contention is, and the business case behind it. People with your arrogance are holding up the progress of broadband in this country. Drop the ignorance, and wake up to sense. Traffic limitations and shaping are essential to providing an economically viable service.

You answered the question to allay my fears at last, so it seems we have the answer.
I shall not post on this subject until the proxies are enabled. I think the reasons for my fears have now been covered in the last post of yours.
If problems appear you will sort them out thats sorted then.
Just as an aside when any NTL problems do appear i do not rant on here until every other avenue has been explored off line.
Feel free to PM me of the contacts within the company who do not want contacting quite happy not to do so.
Thank you for answering the proxy question at last
