Question What to back up ?

Hi all

Just wondered what people normally back up to check I am not missing anything!

I normally back my my documents and other important folders such as music etc.

Is there any utility which makes this process easier or automatic. (Normally burn data to DVD)

Interested in anyones comments

Regards

Mike

Re: What to back up ?

I think you will find Windows comes with a backup utility that allows you to set up an automatic set of files and folders to include in any later backup and then when it is carrying out the update it will only update any changed or additional files.

Which specific folders you choose is of course up to you but I always include my "Downloads", "Utilities" & "Drivers" folders as they contain all the bits n bobs I would need should I every be forced to do a reinstall.

These discs are great for helping others too as when I am setting up a new system I always have a couple of CD's containing all the most useful little programs easily to hand.

I have two HDs in my machine, and occasionally image the entire main drive onto the secondary one. I am not suggesting you do this, but since I have two drives anyway, and the secondary is big enough to hold the entire contents of the primary one, I find the thought that I have a bootable backup reassuring. Should the OS on the main drive go t*ts up, I can simply boot the secondary one, and restore the lot if necessary.
