Before you get stuck on the phone.. it's worth checking that you've not blocked https with a software firewall (zonealarm/kerio.. etc)
The port is usually TCP port 443.
Also, you could check that you've set your internet explorer proxy settings correctly.
On the image below I've highlighted the important bits.
You need to route secure (https) traffic to the same address as the first line.
You set it by checking the box indicated with another red arrow

Re: https:// problem?
Don't forget, the proxies have been turned off in the N/West for a long time now..
Just checked on "AllNetools" which reports no proxies.
I am in your area and have had no problems accessing my online bank etc.

Re: https:// problem?
I have just tried the O2 link and accessed it, although it was rather slow and it attempted to install a spyware cookie, but Pest Patrol blocked it.
I have had a few problems with DNS recently and specified 2 that th'eng gave me. These worked fine for a week then they became even worse than the Ntl ones. I have switched to Zen DNS at the moment ( I have a dial up acc with them as well as NtlBB). At the moment they seem fine.
It could be worth a try.
Zen DNS. 212.23.8.1
212.23.8.6
Jim.
