EBay Bans Google Checkout

Quote:
eBay has updated it's "Safe Payments Policy" to specifically NOT allow Google Checkout. I suspect sellers (especially multichannel) will be pretty upset about this.

It will be interesting to see what lame excuse eBay uses to justify this. For example, they will probably say it's new so prone to fraud. Well, in reality it's a credit card gateway (and the same one eBay spends millions with as the top google adwords user) and credit cards are specifically allowed along with gateways (verisign/cybersource/authorize.net, etc.)
Clicky..

That is an outrage really, how they can justify this will be interesting but as an Ebayer that has already stopped using PayPal in his sales i was hoping to use this as an alternative depending on the fee's.

Re: EBay Bans Google Checkout

Ei?

Headline:-

eBay BANS Google Checkout

Blurb:-
eBay has updated it's "Safe Payments Policy" to specifically NOT allow Google Checkout.

Payment Services not permitted on eBay: AlertPay.com, anypay.com, AuctionChex.com, AuctionPix.com, BillPay.ie, ecount.com, cardserviceinternational.com, CCAvenue, ecount, e-gold, eHotPay.com, ePassporte.com, EuroGiro, FastCash.com, Google Checkout,

Sounds like a ban to me.

You have to wonder why you would ban a search engine from doing something when they provide you with probably 60% of your customers....

Re: EBay Bans Google Checkout

well we can all see why they have banned it cant we? just so that ebay dont loose any 'profit money' by customers using googles checkout rather than paypal...i personally cannt ostand paypal, they take far to much a % of the money in fees....sames as ebay, i think thats over price too.....

Re: EBay Bans Google Checkout

Makes you wonder why they ban ebay users from using another companies payment system which could eventually seriously impact paypals' and therefor Ebays' profits ....... erm

Lets hope so, I'm not using Paypal anymore as they're a bunch of crooks who talk to their custoerms like ****.

Maybe people should move from EBay to another auction site - are there any worth considering?

Re: EBay Bans Google Checkout

Im happy using Ebay as a buyer, but as i seller im getting more and more dissilusioned.

Listing feels, selling fee's and then PayPal fee's were just a bit too much.

You don't have to use paypal on ebay - it's just that pp is integrated - you can arrange any method you like with the buyer.

Yeah, i know (even mentioned that i no longer use it in the fist post ) but the fact is Ebay make it very difficult to use anything else.

Re: EBay Bans Google Checkout

Well, maybe Google should start up (or buy) their own auction site? And then they can start up (or buy) their own VOIP product too. Then we'd all have no need to use fleabay ever again
