Queue on 0871
Well NTL promised no more long waits when you call the 0871 number..
Last night my net died yet again twice now this month NTL must be going for a record this month has had double the outages I used to get in a year.
After 10 mins down and two reboots I decided to call the 0871 number @ 10p a min on BT lines (you pray NTL are not using that as a way to charge cable customers more)
To have the normal information to reboot and blah blah then the message said I was joining a queue with 119 in front of me and would be 9mins wait, 15 mins later with no update on how the queue was doing I quit on the call.
What a crap service and you only end up in India if I am going to have to hang online for 15mins or more I want a UK call centre if I have to pay to report NTLs faults I want UK based call centre.
I have been told by an employee it will get better well it would if the top ones from NTL left now and allowed others to take the place that are m ore customer focused.

Re: Queue on 0871
Yep. having had the misfortune to have to dial that 0871 number a few times in the last few weeks, I've found it very hit and miss as to how long you wait. 12 minutes has been the worst, but I have also got through within seconds after it's givent eh minute long reboot this that and the other standard message.
It's one thing paying for the call when you are through, but it really sucks to be paying to waste your time while you are on hold.

Re: Queue on 0871
Wasn't there something in ntl's announcement of these charges that said there would be an offer of a free call back if anyone was waiting for more than 3 minutes?

What i cannot understand here is. If your broadband is that bad in your area, Why is there not more complaints than there is now. I have seen the figures there no different to any other area. ?
I think you need to get the forum here involved and get the top brass at NTL to get someone out to your connection. Your not getting it fixed by the normal methods.

Re: Queue on 0871
I have to say, I'm in Manchester too, and I've also had more outages this month than I had in a year previously.
It's been ever since the 4mb upgrade, which you may recall I repeatedly stated I didn't want in case it made the connection unreliable - which it has!
The last three nights it's gone down around 6.30/7.00pm for about an hour or more. The same happened again tonight.
I don't bother ringing because all they will do is start checking my settings, and it isn't the settings. There's something wrong with it.
I hope this is a blip. I really do need the service to be reliable and if it ends up not being, I'll move elsewhere, which I *really* don't want to do.
I am giving it a lot more time before it comes to that though. I've had near-perfect service since 2000, a handful of short outages won't in themselves make me leave. As long as they get it fixed!

Another thread successfully killed by the great Scrotnig!
Mods, if you have one of those annoying that threads that everyone posts in that is causing disruption, drop me a PM - I'll simply post in it, and then it will die an immediate death!

Re: Queue on 0871
Have to say my BB has been down around the same time each morning, I would never normally notice as I'm in work but as I'm off sick this week it has been noticable by my b/f who has been trying to work. The sync/rdy lights have been flashing like mad around 9'ish to 11'sh but fine in the evening

Nah... it gets much hotter later in the day when the connection is fine. The connection breaks about the same time every day, which makes me think its some sorta scheduled maintenance. There's some scheduled maintenance for the Stockport area, but its outside the midnight-6am window...
