Modem = Bin?
Hi  ,
Iv cancelled my ntl broadband now and i was asking the dude on the line when he was going to pick my modem up to which he replyed "there not going to".
I was wondering since the modem has a certain MAC address and is registered to my name and address should i just chuck it in the bin since it seems theres nothing i can do with it?
Thanks for reply

Re: Modem = Bin?
Erm I would refrain from doing anything with it for at least a couple of months or you may get a suprise. You could get unlucky and be the first person to have a collection occur.

Re: Modem = Bin?
I've read elsewhere that the modems cost in the region of £10-20, so its not finanically worth collecting them (especially as they would need to be reconditioned, and will be inferior to a brand new modem). The only legal use that I can think of for it is as an unusual plant stand.

Shouldn't NTL contact eBay and get them banned from selling them? After all it is illigal as its not their property, even if they wont work when the buyer gets it.

Re: Modem = Bin?
I am sorry for being one of these "idiots" but I would not have known that they were unusable. I have not bought one cos i get my internet through STB but hey, I may have been dumb enough if i hadn't read this thread. Thanks guys and i bet that there are others that read this and thought Phewwwww better retract my order. I use ebay quite a lot and in general find it good and cheap, but, i only buy what i know about.
Thanks again.

I know Ntl have spoken to E-scam sorry E-bay lots of times, EBay don't take them down because at the end of the day ebay make money on every sale. So it is in there interest not to take down the auctions that are totaly against there own terms and conditions and they know it. LOOK HERE

Re: Modem = Bin?
NTL would see the same MAC on 2 modems and know someone was up to something. No doubt both modems would then lose service.
