ntl CM 250 10MB, switched hub & netgear wpn824 bridge

Hi, I've got 2 desktops attached via cat5 network through a switched hub to my gateway machine. I had 1MB from STB onto the wired network & wifi wpn824 bridge, which is an adsl modem/router, previously working like a dream supplying 2 wifi laptops.

Today on 10MB cable modem I can't get any PC's other than the gateway to access internet. Although all will still share resouces and files etc, so the network side of it is OK.

Can anyone give me a lead on how to configure any of this since I think the dynamic address system is throwing me.

Thanks in anticipation.

Mick

Re: ntl CM 250 10MB, switched hub & netgear wpn824 bridge

i would like advice on this too. i had a cm250 modem installed yesterday, and could access the internet, but when i connected my router to it, i couldnt connect. i tried changing the mac addresss in the router to the one listed on the bb install, but i couldnt get it working. I may just have missed something simple, as i didnt try to long as i watched the footy.

Any simple tips, or should i just install it all again.

Hi mini-moog, I've sorted this by getting a Linsys WRT54GS from PCWorld, it was the cheapest version of the range at £40. It's set up and working and I'm going round the house sorting out the kids PC's.
Can I suggest that you start a thread giving details of your router and I'm sure you'll get help, a new thread will draw people to yor particular needs.
If you want an alternative I can thoroughly recommend the Linksys I got. It's well liked on these pages and very well supported.
Any one want a Netgear WPN824 ADSL wireless modem?

The Netgear router is actually a DG834PN, hence the ADSL connection.

Hello micken, I've managed to sort it now. Just did a reinstall on the modem and then on the router. I think i was a bit hasty with my first post, and very vague as well! I'm not good with these forum thingies...
