Thumbs down Ntl Sucks

I had been using NTL over 3 years and besides being an expensive service I found that the Internet side of things was totally unreliable and useless.

I would suggest to who ever wishes to use Broadband to stay away from NTL. The last few months of my NTL connection has worked but usual delays of 30 seconds to open a page sometimes pages timing out while your browsing a site and the most annoying issue was the patchy internet where it worked for 10 minutes and then 10 minutes of timeouts and no data. This is because their connections are not pure they put you through transparent proxies which half of the time can not resolve sites. There is no way around this either as in you can not assign Public DNS servers or Public proxies because NTL redirects all port 80 traffic back to their own transparent proxies. DOH .

The cheeky monkeys also charge you for a Basic TV package that you get FREE of charge on FreeView

NTL your marketing Tactics are OLD and times are moving on.

I can see how they can afford to buy out Virgin Mobile considering after 3 years to be having the same issues they had initially when I joined them points to them never actually fixing the issues rather pocketing all that money for new investments.

If you do not want the headache of unreliable Broadband dont choose NTL go with someone that Internet Is their Number 1 thing rather than a mutli packager seller of Media ie t/v telephone etc since what you end up with is a JACK OF ALL TRADES oh ye and mobiles now too heheheh wonder how long before the virgin mobile be lagging and not picking up reception lol

Just SAY NO to NTL

Big TUMBS DOWN

Definitly a BIG THUMBS DOWN FOR THAT NAME

BOOOOOOO

Re: Ntl Sucks

There ... does that feel better now?

to Cable Forum - it's a pity you didn't find your way here 3 years ago, the advice in these pages could have made some of the NTL experience a lot more bearable and might have cured some of the problems all together.

On that note, it may be worth your while checking out this site sooner rather than later.

In your experience of course.

Quote:
I would suggest to who ever wishes to use Broadband to stay away from NTL it really does suck.
And go where? ADSL? That can suck too my friend.

Their connections are not pure they put you through transparent proxies which half of the time can not resolve sites.
Again, in your experience maybe. Have you reported any problems or faults you have had?

Quote:
The cheeky monkeys also charge you for a Basic TV package that you get FREE of charge on FreeView
But what they don't charge you for is the stb, maintenance on said
stb, a new aeriel, access to PPV, VOD etc.

NTL your marketing Tactics are OLD times are moving on and I can see how now you can afford to buy out Virgin Mobile cos all the money you take off your clients doesnt seem to be going back into the client base but rather into making NTL more money !!!
And you get your facts from where?

Quote:
And If I was wrong after 3 years of problems and issues with their nasty transparent proxies it would have been fixed rather than them looking to buy out new companies
If I had probelms with any service provider, I wouldn't stick around for 3 years. More fool anyone who does really.

Quote:
It seems like the morons are trying take me to be one of them nah no moron here and I suggest who ever uses NTL has a rethink about all that money they pay these bunch of thiefs !!!!
Thanks for your input.

Re: Ntl Sucks

to the site.

There are some channels in the base pack you don't get on freeview and some people live in areas with poor or no freeview reception.

There are some customers who have issues with the proxies but the majority have internet access without any issues.

Re: Ntl Sucks

Orange bird and all you Under Cover NTL workers I really dont care about your feedback my feedback is a 100% honest and genuine

NTL is a bad Internet Provider and nothing you say can change this since I have 3 years experience of it and maybe after 3 years of constant issues you may too come to the same conclusion

Re: Ntl Sucks

If I had the chance, I'd go to ntl for the broadband access, would love to have 10mb, but I'm about 10ft away from the tee Friend of mine who has ntl B loves it, and I did too when I was in a ntl area.
Do prefer Sky+ though to what ntl offers on their TV side at the moment.

Re: Ntl Sucks

I know there have been a people who have suffered from the proxies, but I have to say, the time I was with ntl, and the experience my mate currently has with ntl, the BB service is great. Have to say, they are a b*tch to get through to if somethings goes wrong, but so are nearly all large companies today

Re: Ntl Sucks

Also for all you INTERNET USERS

I have used other ISP's who when they have had issues you know what they have done

they have given you extra free months / weeks of service for the days/times they have issues

What did NTL do when they had problems

Made me wait in a queue for over an hour evertime (charged me for this too )

to tell me there are issues and they are looking into it blah blah blah

Prove to me how good NTL really ARE?

since I aint got a good thing to say

Re: Ntl Sucks

cos it had set my house phone number via them and also one of those "morons" awaiting NTL to fix their issues specially when they said their gonna move up to 10 mb connection

This moron thought they be fixing issues prior to moving upwards.

Nah I dont want to keep my number any longer and i certainly dont want to spend 60% of my nights awaiting on sites that timed out to work !

That doesn't change the fact that 99% of Ntl customers have no issues at all with the proxies or their connection.

They aren't the UK's biggest ISP for nothing. If they were so bad people would be leaving in their droves.

Re: Ntl Sucks

lol @ chris

Hmm manually specify what external proxy servers that exist outside of NTL ?

nah as far as i was aware NTL uses layer 4 switching whereby the read into the packets coming in and redirect it accordingly hence you can not bypass this as far as i was aware or that NTL had specified..

Ohhh once they gave me an IP to one of their own proxy servers ...

So here I am now i want to play an online game can I still go via the same proxy DOH

no it still sucks DUDE
