upgrade promise
Hi am I dreaming or was it just wishful thinking but didn`t NTL sometime at the end of last year promise us a FREE upgrade to 10meg in 2006. I now see they are pushing the upgrade gravy train but want to charge us.
regards

where's the official announcement saying 1m and 2m users aren't going to be upgraded to 10meg this year?

this is the only official 10meg announcement I can think of:-

Re: upgrade promise
One and two meg users are getting an uncapped service: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/...mited-jan-2006
Having said that, according to this article, there will be further 10 Meg products launched this year.

Re: upgrade promise
and where in that article does it state the 10meg upgrade has been abandoned?
---------- Post added at 18:26 ---------- Previous post was at 18:23 ----------
see this:-
http://www.cableforum.co.uk/article/...n-november-8th
"According to ntl, once the rollout to existing 3 Mbps customers has been completed, the rollout to the 2 Mbps & 1 Mbps customers will commence in 2006. The price of these is also expected to remain the same (at £24.99 and £17.99) . They will however have lower monthly limits (the current 30GB and 3GB respectivly being the most likely values)."
"Cable Forum also believe that ntl have plans to offer a number of lower speed ‘uncapped’ services"
---------- Post added at 18:29 ---------- Previous post was at 18:26 ----------
I think the answer is simple - dont believe it until you see it and dont hold back on moving to ADSL (if you were thinking about it) because they have made a promise which they could easily go back on.

I'd be very suprised if NTL did a ten meg uncapped product. At least if they do, it'll cost more than the 34.99 that the 10 Meg goes for..

Re: upgrade promise
if it ever happened then we are truly seeing a gross disregard for performance.
Even a capped 10meg for the middle tier would cause severe problems, I am not sure the affect of a unmetered would be since it appears they not enforcing the cap anyway so it is sort of uncapped at current.

you'll have the choice of 2meg unlimited or 10meg with a cap of say perhaps 30gig for your monthly £25. that's based on all the official press releases so far.
who told you it would 'stay that way'?
