Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

Sounds good to me. I have been on the £17.99 service ever since i joined NTL a few years back. I have endured their sales pitches of offering cheaper deals to newcomers whilst charging me the same. Also the sporadic reductions in quality of service probably due to taking on loads of new customers and not putting in sufficient infrastructure etc etc. I think its time to go at last.

Are you looking for a discussion about the merits of Tiscali, or the shortcomings of NTL?

I wouldn't touch Tiscali with yours :gag: Although if a mainstream ISP like them offer that price a few others will follow soon enough.

Re: Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

Hmmm...

I have been looking at this myself (for my mum)

Seems an ideal entry level for her.

I have a m8 who is on the 2mb package. The only problem he has had is an email about his download usage between the hours of 6pm and 11pm

Ohh, and Indian tech support

Other than that he has had no probs at all. It seems like a good entry level broadband package to me

Re: Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

Tiscali's definition of unlimited is quite an interesting one.

Actually as is their definition of a service - see adslguide for more tales of this quality service.

Re: Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

I watched their AD on TV, thing is they tell you upto 8meg speed then quote a price of 'from £14.99', which is not the price for 8meg nor do they make it clear what speed £14.99 gets you!

Why can't they just quote the prices for their speeds instead of showing the highest tier speed but quoting the lowest tier price?

Actually, they have one of the most sensible fair use policies I've seen:

Basically you should respect other users at peak hours (5pm to 11pm) and limit your downloads. At all other times you can cane your connection all you like. If you don't, then you get traffic shaped during peak hours.

Simple. Fair. Upfront.

I think you're getting confused with either Bulldog or Wannado. Tiscali don't have an 8mb service.

unlimited means unlimited, if tiscalli dont like the times when people dl, they should state it on the service somthing like, "unlimited dl's during off peak".

Re: Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

They do. There is always a mention of the term "unlimited" being subject to a fair use policy. The fair use policy makes it clear what happens.

No-one will stop you downloading lots, but they say they will traffic shape heavy users at peak times. What's the problem?

Tiscali , dont go there. I was with there BB before i got ntl .
Try getting on the internet on a friday night , you may be lucky if you try after 10pm, and when i was connected there was the constant dissconections , and when i phoned them about the dissconections they kept saying it was my bt line at fault , even though it was checked by bt twice with no faults found. Ntl broad band compared to tiscali much much better even if you have to pay a couple of quid extra.

I saw a program about a unhappy customer who was with tiscalli and he wanted to change isp and they were causing him all sorts of problems, I wouldn't touch them with anyone else, I'm happy enough with telewest BY, yes it is slightly more expensive, I wonder why?!

Re: Tiscali unlimited 1Meg, £14.99

there are forums on ADSLGUIDE - I suggest before going to any ADSL supplier you check out the comments on there first! tiscali have a ****e name for themselves as far as I know as do a lot of other ADSL suppliers. nildram is the only one I can think of which I've heard good things about! perhaps because the unhappy customers are the loudest!
