Question Won't Connect

Hi,
I have been using my NTL Cable Modem through USB, worked fine.

I plugged my xbox into the ethernet port on the modem, my xbox connected fine, but now i cant connect to the internet on my PC...

I have unpluged the xbox whilst trying to connect, but nothing, i have tried modem into PC via ethernet, in network connections says connected, but still i cant connect.

I have tried enabling disabling connection and resetting modem loads of times, but still nothing.

Only think i can think to do is format, does anyone have any ideas.

If you can get to me asap, it will be much appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Re: Won't Connect

Not being an expert in these areas, try this link, if it works it proves modem and NTL are speaking, any other webpage failing to load normally indicates modem registration prob. After that I'm not sure what to advise.
https://autoreg.autoregister.net

PS try disabling any cache servers and firewalls-just an idea.

Re: Won't Connect

You have to power down your PC and modem completely. Then plug in the ethernet cable.

Then power your PC back up and then your modem, not quite sure which way round on the last step, someone will come along and correct me if not.

Edit: Look at this post for the sequence:

Re: Won't Connect

Power off everything, power up modem, power up PC only after the modem lights have locked and stabilised. Don't power up the PC first as it needs to talk to the modem to get it's IP and DNS information.
