What do you think?

What do you think about this, I had NTL come out the other day after calling CS about my ready light going off on my modem and my BB connection was dropping because of this. My sync light always remaind on and the lady on the phone told me that her screen was showing my power levels were maxin out and I needed an engineer to come and resolve the issue.

Great I thought that went smoothly, so next day the engineer called and from the get go told me there was nothing wrong even though he had not even seen the modem or touched a thing and started going on about speed issues and the 10meg thing so I said I don't have a problem with my speed and that the problem was with my modem and it loosing connection altoghether he told me to wait a month and see if it gets better and as you can guess I told him I ain't paying 37.99 for a month of broadband I can't use!

He eventually went to get a test meter from his van and connected it to my cable, I could see he did not know how to use it and his reply was it was a new model they have only just been issued!

Anyway he told me that the reading showed 0db as my power level and this was spot on?

But my modem at the time after going to 192.168.100.1 clearly showed my power level as -4.8db and when I clicked the refresh button it was constantly changing to anywhere between -4.8 & -4.2db it used to be around -3.2db he told me he can only go by what his test meter showed!

I just checked my power levels and they are stil the top end of -4db but I no longer have the disconnection issue but something else has started to happen.

Now my recive light flashes even when my pc is turned off????

The send light flashes but only now and then.

Plus my modem logs are full of error reports hundreds infact!

I have no spyware or viruses on my machine and this is ruled out anyway due to the fact it happens when the pc is turned off anyone know why?

Re: What do you think?

It was dropping over a period of three days and was totally random.

It does not drop the connection anymore though.

Just wondered if there is something going on that I should know about.
