Unhappy Can anyone help with my disconnecting issue?

Does it every now and again - usually several months between this happening. It usually coincides with NTL doing upgrades - started last night again - 7 reboots of the Digibox to get the connection back. Have already rebooted 3 times tonight.

Basically I have zero connection - it just vanishes - no warning. Wierd thing I have noticed is that if BT is running it will continue to upload - but not download?

I have to switch the PC off (or just pause it or go into BIOS) - unplug the digibox (Samsung) let it boot - reboot PC - I have connection. It can then go an hour - a min or sometimes that doesn't sort it and I have to do the same procedure.

As a side note - it has done this on a random basis for a day or two every 6 months or so from day one - in that time

Three Digiboxes - 512K - 1Mb and now 3Mb. Linksys Router and without the router. Three network cards. Zone Alarm. Kerio. Bit Defender and no firewall. Multiple O/S 2000Pro - XP SP1 and XP SP2. Two totally different PC's. Static IP - dynamic IP.

So I have nothing that is a common element over this period - only NTL.

I was wondering if anyone can give me an idea of what is going on - that resetting the Digibox sorts? And is there a way of doing this that doesn't have me crawling round the floor?

Have tried just resetting the PC and Router - also repairing the connection - and it does nothing - I HAVE to re-set the Digibox. So I assume it is a setting with the modem in STB?

Note: After all the reboots - I still don't have 5Mb - which is even more depressing.
