French channels on NTL?

Hello,

I used to be able to get the French news channel TV5 on NTL. It seems that they have now withdrawn this. Does anyone know how to get any other French channels & at what cost?

Kind regards,

poshgaffer

Do you know when it was withdrawn? It was there in the last few weeks as I watched some obscure film...but I haven't looked lately.

Re: French channels on NTL?

The ntl network is divided in two- ex cable and wireless areas (known as "bromley") and original ntl areas (known as "langley") I'm 99% sure that you are in a bromley area.

Re: French channels on NTL?

TV5 is channel 210 on the Bromley network, and 845 on the Langley network. It's available in the Family Pack, so providing you're subscribed to that pack, you should be able to view it.

Re: French channels on NTL?

Sorry to barge in to this thread, but does anoyone know if you can get the following french channels on NTL or which other provider would do them as that is what I would want if I got a Tv package...

- French channels such as TF1, FR2, FR3, ARTE, M6

Thanks.

Re: French channels on NTL?

TV5 is currently the only European foreign language channel on ntl. As said above, it's available on both digital platforms - although it may have been withdrawn from analogue services, I'm not sure as I don't deal with these much.

Re: French channels on NTL?

If you're after *any* foreign language TV then you might want to seriously look at getting 'free-to-air' (i.e. no subscription) satellite TV.

For example, in French you can get all these channels:
http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/France.html

Or in German, all these:
http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Germany.html

For any other European language start here:
http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/Europe.html

If you are lucky, then all the channels you want will be on one cluster of satellites. In this case you can get away with a fixed dish. Otherwise you will need a motorised system which will cost a little more. Remember, there's more, much more, to satellite TV than Sky.
