Re: 170Mbps through an electrical socket demoed
My thoughts? I can make Wi-fi go more than 150 metres without any power cables.

I believe that Matsush*ta are claiming that they can do better than that with their chip.
Oh this pathetic swear filter.

"The main problem is that the signal will dissipate through the cables over any distance more than about 150m."

Matsush*ta are the parent company of panasonic. What they are showing is internet over power cables not like homewire where its just a network.Uk power compaines are also looking into this as a possible future for isp's

Yes, but there are many problems with this idea - not least, as well as the signals, there's lots of *electricity* going over the cables!!
There have been many trial of powerline type internet access ideas for many years now. None have been particularly successful.

All well and good, but how will it cope when someone has the microwave on, the fridge comes on, someone else is drilling, somebody mowing the lawn and a couple of people have hair dryers going, and all on the one circuit?

They will probably require the fire and rescue service.
