Unhappy Current billing not fair

First of all I would like to say a big hello to all forum members

Right, I generally regard Telewest as being a great ISP always upfront and not had many issues with them, I have been a loyal customer for approx 3 years

I am currently on there 2mb service which I pay 35 quid for.

I used to be on their 4mb service for 50 quid about a year ago.

Now my issue - on their site they are advertising the 4mb (with the prospect of being upgraded to 10mb) to new customers for 35 quid

From doing a bit of digging Wigan (where I live) will not get 10mb until early next year - so I will be paying more than any new customers for approx 6 months or longer. As I have had 4mb in this area I know it is possible to recive it again, so why will they not upgrade my account to 4mb so I can get the service they are currently advertising on the net?

So far I have phone twice - once I was told that 4mb is not in my area until they upgrade and no new customers will get 4mb - then I was told that basicaly it was tough and I just had to deal with it until they upgrade my area, and if I had an issue raise a complaint by letter...

Just wanted some views and to find out if other telewest customers with 50mb on this forum are happy to pay an extra 15 quid per month when new customers are getting the service cheaper?

Cheers

Re: Current billing not fair

Welcome to the forum Ring them and tell them you want to go on to the 1MB you will save £10 a month and they are putting it up to 4MB soon any way, you never know they may let you keep the 2MB for the lower price any way.

If you get no were with customer services try ringing the retention department

Re: Current billing not fair

No offence, but you are paying the going rate for what you signed up for.

Please can you explain this - If I was to pay the going rate then for 2mb I would be paying approx 24.99 like NTL are offering.

In theroy I could down grade to 1mb which is only 19.99 then wait for a bit before upgrading to 4mb for 35 quid.

I wouldnt mind if I was paying the 'going rate' but I dont believe I am, at the minute I am out of pocket and will be for up to at least 6 months. Which is approx 60 quid.

Like I said I do like telewest but they have annoyed me with this stance.

I would still be intrested to hear from anyone who has the 50mb service.

Re: Current billing not fair

2mb from Telewest has always been £35, which was a price freeze when they upgraded from 1MB then to 1.5Mb and to 2Mb :/

I believe NTL's 2mb package is cheaper because it's capped

Anyway....
From the newsgroups

Quote:
All existing blueyonder elite customers, regardless of region, will
see the new prices in their bills for November services. Due to the
quantity of bills, bills are sent out gradually over a month. Bills
with the new prices will start being sent out from October 25.

We are aware that selfcare is yet to be updated with the new pricing.
Ideally this would have been updated at the same time as the
'evenfaster' page on the website, which is the place to go to answer
your questions on the speed uplifts. Unfortunately the update to
selfcare has been delayed due to some implementation issues, and this
should be updated within the next week.

Any customers who have not yet had their speed uplifts and choose to
upgrade to the top blueyonder elite tier (4Mb) via selfcare will take
advantage of the new £35 price for the blueyonder elite service.
Apparently they're saying phone for the upgrade, quoteing that message from Alex Brown instead of using the option in selfcare. I haven't tried yet, because I'm not in all that of a rush
