Bus driver jailed for sex with girl

I read this on the BBC, and was amazed at the comment by the defence lawyer:

I was just wondering if that was supposed to classify as a mitigating circumstance? Along the lines of "Yes, he is technically a paedophile, but he is a responsible employee"?

I think it was to stress that he was not exploiting his position as a bus driver (someone who would have to be trusted with kids) to commit the act. Not that it makes it much better

Just read the article and he was using his position. So yeah I am stumped

He used his position as the bus driver to prime his victim, just because the assault happened outside of work hours does not make it any less serious.

Scary.

There are young girls on our school buses and we trust the drivers implicitly. Could never consider something like that would ever happen.

All the more reason to keep an eye on things.

Best thing to do is make the drivers have a CRB check like we used to do when we were on the Taxis, make them have one every year, if they fail a CRB then they lose their jobs.

Burn the ****, that person is sick and twisted to a new degree, preying on a vunerable lass and exploiting that.

Once found guilty lock him away and throw the key in the trash.
